"I love excitement, take on new things, and happily bring people along with a big smile on my face."
Sanne Mooren (30) - De Carpentier Mooren Groep BV – IT-manager
I have been working in the family business for just over a year. Although my surroundings say they always knew I would eventually work here, I didn’t realize it until much later. Carpentier Mooren Group provides everything you need to build a house, but that’s not what I’m focused on. My goal, together with my direct colleagues in IT, is to make work easier for all other colleagues through automation, and to help them further digitize their tasks. Although they don’t always see those changes in the same way, since the construction industry is originally quite traditional.
But the most important issue for me arose from the fact that my position and responsibilities were new, but the organization itself was not. For some, I’m still that little girl who used to ride on the forklift, and there are people around with whom I grew up. I’m a family member, but now also the person ultimately responsible. Sometimes, it’s quite difficult to use that role in a way that I pursue my goal and task, but without losing sight of who I am.
During Rebel, we really took the time for my development. It was built up in concrete steps, with practical exercises, which I love. Now I see more clearly that I’m not someone with different roles, functions, and responsibilities, no: I am Sanne, and this is what I stand for. I already was that, but it’s become much clearer to me now because I’ve learned more about myself. The group also gave me the confidence to take that on together.
I love excitement, I take on new things, and I like to bring people along with a big smile on my face. I now dare to do that from me, instead of from a function, background, or any kind of role.
